Ujjain: Catholic Church to celebrate Golden Jubilee

Catholic Church, the diocese of Ujjain will complete 50th foundation year. To mark this occasion 3 days long celebration programmes will be organised by the church and community members.  It is notable that church is actively participating in providing education, health and social services at Ujjain, Rajgarh, Shajapur and Agar-Malwa, comes under Ujjain diocese, since its foundation.

Addressing the press conference, Ujjain diocese Bishop Dr Sebastian Vadakel highlighted the historical past of Catholic Church and community in city, he held that catholic community started reaching city by 1920 and in 1933 father William Leuzen started preaching and further in 1962 first Holy Trinity Church was established in city.

In 1968 saint Papa Paul VI separated some parts of Indore diocese and this laid the foundation of Ujjain diocese.Church aims to provide health and education since its inception in city and Pushpa Hospital, Nirmala Hospital of Chandesri, Manovikas Special School are epitome of its determination and conviction for society.

On Sunday, to mark its Golden Jubilee, the church will lay foundation for constructions of 50 houses for poor people’s at Chandesari village. Similarly foundation for new wing of Nirmala hospital will be laid out at Chandesari village. Church has also constructed care homes for mentally and physically challenged children which will be inaugurated during its 50th foundation year celebrations.
