Ujjain: Hundreds of devotees who poured into the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple on the second Monday of Shravan month fell ill after waiting in long queues for worship, almost 2 kms away from the place of worship.

Devotees who suffered from nausea were treated at the heath care camp in the temple premises. An old devotee Mainabai was referred to the district hospital by the doctor present there, while another devotee was hospitalized due to dehydration. According to the temple management committee authorities as many as 150 devotees were treated on Monday.

Over 10,000 kawad yatris pay obeisance

On the day of the second sawari (procession) of Lord Mahakal around 10,000 kawad yatris reached Shri Mahakaleshwar temple from across the state and offered holy water collected from different rivers. Assistant administrative officer Deepak Garud said after bhasmarti the kawad yatris were allowed to make their entries from the bhasmarti gate. Thousands of kawad yatris also reached Ramghat from the Kshipra river and took holy dips.
