Ujjain: Court awarded 10-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 to Sunny Panjabi of Manchaman colony for abducting and raping a minor girl. A fine of Rs 5,000 too was imposed on him. Deputy Director, Administration, Dr Saket Vyas said that Sunnya kidnapped the girl on January 13, 2017. Her father lodged a complaint with Madhav Nagar police station. After confirming girl’s age through school records and radiology test, the police lodged the case. The victim told the cops that Sunny forcibly took her away and raped her.

District prosecution officer Rajkumar Nema presented case in which court found him guilty of abduction and rape. Court awarded Sunny 3-year RI and Rs 2000 fine under Section 363 of Indian Penal code, 5-year RI and Rs 3000 fine under 366 (A) of the IPC and 10-year RI and Rs 5000 fine under section 5 (1) and 6 of POCSO Act-2012. All three sentences would go simultaneously.
