Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) continued its drive against illegal constructions and cattle sheds on Monday too. According to officials seven cattle sheds and encroachments in Neelganga, Jaisinghpupra and Ekta Nagar were flattened with the help of police, district administration and electricity departments.
Expediting its drive, the UMC team reached Neelganga with police force, fire brigade and ambulance and razed a two-storey house constructed on government land. According to officials criminal case was also registered against a few members of house owner Narendra Pasi’s family.
Officials face ire of residents of illegal colony
When UMC team began to raze the house many residents of the colony gathered and began to protest. The family members also did not support government’s action against encroachments. The officials did not pay attention to even corporator Durga Choudhary and other political leaders’ arguments.
Encroachments were also razed in Jaisingpura
In another move, the UMC team razed illegal construction in Jaisingpura area where officials had to brave protest by house owner’s family members. Team members removed illegal cowshed here. The team also razed house adjacent to cowshed as it too was illegally constructed on government land. At the time of razing the house women of the family tried to immolate self but were thwarted by the cops.

According to UMC officials four days ago the house owner was asked to remove encroachments but he did not pay attention to the notice.
