Nashik: Two alleged blackmailers, including one from New Mumbai, have been arrested on Wednesday for morphing a woman’s photographs and videos and demanding ransom of Rs 500,000.
Giving this information, Upnagar police station senior police inspector Ashok Bhagat said that, the blackmailers had demanded Rs 500,000 from the victim and threatened to publish the photos and videos on Whatsapp and other social groups. The case was registered in Upnagar police station on 11 February under Sections 384, 506, 504 of Indian Penal Code and under Section 66 (E) of Information Technology Act 2000.
The police investigated the case through technical assistance from Cyber Cell and arrested Jayant Prabhakar Zambre (42) of Indranagar locality in Nashik and Rakesh Gorakh Pawar (30), resident of Hiraji Sadan, Room No 301, Sector 20, Airoli, Navi Mumbai.
