 In a last minute decision, the government today extended the deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) till August 5, a top official today said. The official twitter handle of the department said the move was made “in view of difficulties faced by taxpayers.” A senior official of the department said the decision to extend the deadline ending today was taken after a meeting of the revenue department and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) was held in the finance ministry today.

 In one of the biggest drugs haul, an Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ship seized 1,500 kgs of heroin valued at about Rs 3,500 crore from a merchant vessel off the Gujarat coast. A Twitter user termed the Arjuna Award-winning Indian shuttler “Anti-Modi”.A fan questioned her on being against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and if she was anti-national since her mother is Chinese. Jwala’s mother, Yelan Gutta is of Chinese descent who married Indian Kranti Gutta from Hyderabad. Sometime later, the tweet turned into a heated argument. The Twitter user wrote, “Is it because ur mother is from China that’s y u oppose Modi every time?” the user asked. To that, Jwala replied, “When u bring my parents in the conversation..u wish u didn’t see this side of me!!! Mind it.”
