Tollywood producer Gopal Reddy’s son Bhargav found dead in Nellore, police suspect accidental drowning

Sad news hit the Tollywood film industry when son of late producer S Gopal Reddy was found dead in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district. Bhargav Reddy’s body was found by police on Tuesday morning and police suspects that he died due to drowning at a beach in Pambali.

According to reports, Bhargav owned a hatchery in the beach area and visited the place for a walk, but did not return later. Vakadu Circle Inspector U Satyanarayana informed a leading daily, “Bhargav Reddy came to Pambali village at around 4:30 pm. After interacting with the staff at the hatchery, he paid electricity bills and wages to them. Further, he went to the sea coast along with his pet at around 5:30 pm on Monday and did not return.”

Police suspects that the strong waves could have washed away Bhargav and his pet during high tide and they both couldn’t have been able to swim against the speedy current of the seawater. Hatchery staff also informed police that Bhargav usually took his dog for bath in the sea. The pet is missing and is yet to found. Some fishermen noticed the body of Bhargav and informed the police. “It looks like an accidental drowning case, but we are verifying all angles. We are waiting for the post-mortem report. The dog is still missing,” Vakadu inspector Uppala Satyanarayana told a leading daily.

Although police suspect the death to be an accident, there are also speculations that Bhargav may have committed suicide. Actor Vishal, who is also Bhargav’s cousin, wrote on Twitter, “Bhargav. I wish you didn’t end your life. No way. I lost my own brother. I will never get over this guilt. I am lost in between all this chaos. I take to Twitter to say I miss you man. I would have sorted your issues. I cry as I message.”

Bhargav’s father, producer Gopal Reddy, founded the popular production company Bhargava Arts, which directed several films in the 1980s and 1990s. Most of the films starred Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role. Post the death of Gopal Reddy in 2008, the company stopped producing films and Bhargav Reddy switched to other business ventures.
