To cut short the heavy rush during summer the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has cancelled the VIP darshan, only on the weekend days the protocol category dignitaries will get VIP darshan privileges. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) announced on Monday and said that it took the decision, keeping in mind the high pilgrim turnout during the summer holidays.
To provide hassle-free darshan to all devotees visiting the famous Lord Venkateswara this summer, the TTD management has resolved not to entertain VIP recommendation letters. The management has taken a firm decision not to consider recommendation letters issued by VIPs for darshan and other facilities, including accommodations to their near and dear ones visiting the hills on all Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the summer months of April, May and June, temple sources told PTI. However, only protocol VIPs would be given priority in getting accommodation and special entry tickets for darshan on payment, Executive officer of TTD, D Sambasiva Rao said.
Addressing media persons, TTD Executive Officer D Sambasiva Rao said there would be no special darshan during week days either, for those carrying recommendation letters from legislators and bureaucrats. The Hindu reported, that the TDD has divided the VIP darshan into three categories, namely, L(List)1, L2 and L3. The L1 tickets are issued to the VIPs who come in person, L2 for VIPs kins and L3 is for those with recommendation letters. There will be no discrimination of any kind between the L-2 and L-3 VIP darshan formats on the weekdays during the period.
