Tigress Avni killing: Protesters detained outside Mantralaya

Mumbai: Marine Drive Police detained 10 people on Tuesday afternoon for holding a silent protest against the killing of tigress Avni. The protesters were volunteers from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Eight men and two women held a silent protest outside Mantralaya at 3.15pm on Tuesday, holding posters, which said, “Shame on government for killing Avni”. Vilas Gangwane, senior police inspector, Marine Drive Police said, “The accused were detained on Wednesday afternoon, since they had not taken any permission from the police to conduct the protest. They were taken to the police station and were let off within an hour.”
