Mumbai: Dawood Ibrahim, the fugitive underworld don, and his brother Anees Ibrahim are wanted accused in the third First Information Report (FIR) for extortion in a land deal case registered against their gangster brother Iqbal Kaskar at Thane nagar police station. The FIR was registered on Tuesday.
According to Abhishek Trimukhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Thane crime branch, “Dawood Ibrahim and his brother Anees are wanted accused in the extortion case registered against their brother Iqbal Kaskar. Anees had threatened the builder as per the instructions of Dawood. Anees had spoken to the builder four times from Pakistan over Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Anees was in touch with a third party who had an interest in the land and told him that Dawood had an interest in the 38 acre land at Gorai.
A middleman whose name is also mentioned in the FIR had conducted meetings in Dubai with the builder for the land deal. The middleman had also called the builder from Dubai to threaten him. Tony Lewis, the original land owner, is also wanted in the case. His name has been mentioned in the third FIR. The name of one beneficiary of the Gorai property has also been mentioned as a wanted accused. “One more person has approached us informing us about Kaskar’s involvement in another extortion matter. On Wednesday, Kaskar and his aides Mumtaz Shaikh and Israr Ali Sayyad were produced for remand before the Thane Magistrate court. They have been remanded to police custody until October 10. A transfer warrant was issued by the police to obtain police custody of the trio. Earlier, they were remanded to judicial custody and were sent to Thane central jail.
Senior Inspector Pradeep Sharma, the investigating officer, sought police custody and told the court that that the police wanted to interrogate Kaskar, Sayyad and Shaikh regarding from where the SIM cards and fire arms were procured, the whereabouts of the two sharp shooters Guddu and Shammi, the Call Details Records of Kaskar and his aides.
