Thane: Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) cabin at Mumbra, caught fire which spread fast to its exterior and also burnt an autorickshaw parked outside on Friday. No casualties or injuries were reported. Fire officials said the auto rickshaw (MH04JH0634), was owned by Hamid Shaikh. This horrific incident occurred in the afternoon at an auto rickshaw stand near Mumbra railway station, in Thane.
According to an eyewitness, the jakat cabin was seen in flames, and with the wind the fire spread. An auto rickshaw stationed nearby also caught fire. Following which, the panic passersby fled the spot. Fire brigade and police were informed who rushed to the spot. “A fire call was received at 3.10pm that an auto had caught fire due to the CNG cylinder blast near Mumbra railway station. One fire tender and one rescue vehicle were sent. The fire was brought under control within half an hour,” said Ganesh Ketade, fire officer, Mumbra fire station.
