Thane: 19-year-old girl slapped, molested by auto driver after argument

Incidents of molestation are rising dangerously. In just the past two days, a second such shameful incident has taken place. A teenage girl, on Friday morning, was molested and assaulted by an auto driver.

According to report in Hindustan Times, the 19-year-old girl is a resident of Thane. The incident happened when she and her friend hailed a rickshaw, after which an unknown man also sat in the rickshaw.

According to Thane Police, the accused has been identified as Mahendra Arun Pitale (49). As the driver was headed towards Khopat, she noticed that the driver was going the wrong way. And when she asked him to stop, an argument ensued between them. After which Pitale turned around and slapped the girl. The victim then got out of the rickshaw and shouted at Pitale.

After some time of argument, Pitale then assaulted her and touched her inappropriately. It took no time for people to notice the incident, and people beat up Pitale and handed him over to police. The Thane Police are in process of registering the case against Pitale.

Earlier incident

On Wednesday, a 20-year-old college student was returning home, when a 27-year-old autorickshaw driver, identified as Sikandar Nisar Shaikh, made an obscene gesture at her near Alok hotel at Thane station. The auto driver was later arrested.
