If you are one of those fans of obstreperous TV comedy face-offs, then you might make sense of this ridiculously hare-brained comedy that goes to incredible, unsuccessful lengths to score its mediocre laughs.

An Asst. Director in a TV soap, Dev (Rajjneish Duggall) is forced to step out when he clashes with the Hero. Off he then goes to tinsel land looking for a producer to bankroll his script. Raj Chopra (Krushna Abhishek), a one-time superstar, now running on empty, looks on him as just the man to revive his career.

The absurdly contrived conflict occurs when Raj decides to cast and literally molest Dev’s girlfriend, hot TV star Ragini (Nazia Hussain) while she puts on the act of heroine and the underworld financier, much-married Aru Bhai (Mukul Dev) also gets in on the shenanigans, casting his beady eye on the unwilling damsel.

Comedians Sunil Pal, Khayali Ram, Deepshikha, Nancy Marwah, Aman Verma are add-ons meant to keep the comedic fluency going but it’s all so monstrously discursive that nothing makes sense. There’s no script to speak of, the logical flaws are plenty and the performers just go through the motions without any class. It’s a pity that an actor of Rajneesh Duggal’s calibre has to immerse his undoubted talent in such repulsive pickings.

The songs are entertaining with peppy music and silly word associations, but they are also imminently forgettable. Characters take about turns without any validation, dialogues sound puerile and the all too brief interludes of hilarity mined in the opening segment, get lost in the shoddy plotting and unsavoury fag end sermonising about piracy. If that was meant to be a sort-of chastisement of the audience then it’s quite self-defeating, isn’t it?
