Teaser of Sridevi-starrer ‘MOM’ is engaging, gritty and dark

Powerhouse talent Sridevi is back with yet another gripping story after ‘English Vinglish’. Like the Gauri Shinde-directorial, here too Sridevi is playing a mother. But, there is a vast difference in the characterisation, tone and feel of the film.

In the teaser, Sridevi is in search of something that lands her in danger. But what is it? Is she searching for her lost daughter? A particular scene of the trailer reminds us of the movie ‘Kahaani’, which starred Vidya Balan. However, the motive behind the search in both the films is different. Meanwhile, the teaser does not reveal much about the plot.

Produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor, the film is directed by Ravi Udyawar. The background score and overall music is by AR Rahman, and the maestro’s genius shows. Apart from the gripping plot, including a murder mystery around the lead characters, and a sense of foreboding danger with Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s appearance, the overall treatment given leaves you feeling uncomfortable and itching for more.

Watch the teaser here:

Nawazuddin because of his brilliant disguise goes unrecognisable. Nawaz is known for getting into the skin of his characters, and this time too he got into the look of his part rather deeply. Apparently, he has used prosthetic make-up and is playing the role of an old man, who is running away from something. In the one-minute teaser, you also catch a glimpse of Akshaye Khanna. The actor made a comeback while playing a negative character in the 2016 film Dishoom.

‘MOM’ will hit the screens on July 14.
