Surgical strike on celluloid! Ronnie Screwvala to make film based on Uri attacks

As we all know that the Uri attacks which happened across the Line of Control had shaken entire nation. However, Indian army didn’t lose hopes and fought back with against terrorist with the historical surgical strike. Well, this incident will always be remembered as a historical moment of India. But do you know there is one filmmaker who is very much interested to make a film on this historical moment? And he is none other than Ronnie Screwvala.

Reportedly, filmmaker Ronnie Screwvala has recently announced a film on the surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army. Interestingly, the film will be titled Uri, and it will see Masaan actor Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film will go on floor in early 2018 and will probably release in September 2018.

Well, the incident will always remain in the history pages. After all, on September 18, 2016, 19 Indian soldiers were killed in an early morning attack by Pakistani terrorists at the 12 Infantry Brigade headquarters in Uri. In response to it, on September 29, Indian Army’s Special Forces carried out “surgical strikes” on terror launch pads inside Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Moreover, talking about the project, Aditya Dhar told Indian Express, “This is the story of what happened in those eleven days. It’s an honour and very reassuring to be backed by Ronnie Screwvala and to execute on this vision and what we believe is an engaging and thrilling story inspired by this true-life incident.”

Vicky Kaushal is currently busy in shooting of Raazi which also stars Alia Bhatt. However, after this news, his fans will be very excited to see Vicky in yet another different role.
