Students to adopt saplings

Ujjain : Academic institutes across the city showed their duty towards the nature by holding plantation programmes on Saturday.

Lions Club Ujjaini and Government Madhav Science College jointly hosted a plantation programme. President Pankaj Bhatnagar told students to become parents of the saplings planted in the premises. The saplings which were planted in Polytechnic College previous year have grown as trees.

Lions Club and students will keep care of the trees planted outside the college premises besides the roads. Administration will bear half of the cost of it. Principal was requested to give two bonus marks to the students who care the trees for the whole year.

Lioness Club Padmawati organised plantation drive at Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Dussehra Maidan. Five tree guards were also given to them. President Shobha Tikekar, treasurer Lalita Joshi, vice-president Aruna Jaolkar and others were present on the occasion.

Headmistress Sunita Solanki proposed the vote of thanks. New Oxford Junior College celebrated green day at school. Students were wearing green colour attires. 75 saplings which were planted last year have grown up now.
