Mumbai: After setting the ball rolling with a gold in the junior girls’ team, Maharashtra paddlers dominated in the individual events as they added eight medals to their kitty which included three gold, one silver and four bronze medals, in the 11SPORTS 80th Junior and Youth National Table Tennis Championship, in Sonepat on Sunday.

The medal rush started off with Shruti Amrute representing RSPB earning a hard-fought 4-2 win over PSPB’s Prapti Sen in the final of the Youth Girls’ singles category to bag the coveted crown of national champion. Chinmaya Somaiya and Raegan Albuquerque also followed suit as they set up an all-Maharashtra final clash against the pair of Deepit Patil/ Dev Shroff in the junior boys’ doubles bracket. The former pair had to toil hard but held onto their nerves to tower over their opponents in a nail-biting encounter which they won 3-2.
