Indore : Parking is a major problem in wholesale grocery market Siyaganj. The market caters to locals as well out of the city traders and people park their vehicles anywhere and everywhere as there is no parking lot nearby. Jams are common occurrences and even though visitors bring them trade many traders are not happy with the situation.
To begin with as many as ten banks dot the stretch of the market which is close to 1000 metres and none of them have any parking lots. Staff and account holders park their vehicles on the road blocking the traffic and creating problems for other drivers.
Traders suggested that the vacant and abandoned liquor warehouse measuring over 20000 sq ft could be used for building a parking a lot and that will solve the problem to a great extent. Suggestion was made in view of the fact that the multilevel parking at Premsukh Talkies is too far for the traders to be of any use.
Shoaib Ansari, resident of Ranipura, said that handcarts and loading rickshaws parked haphazardly block the main road which is already narrower due to parking on the either side of the road.
Trader Alok Verma said that haphazard parking by bank staff and customers create the problem although they cannot be faulted because the bank buildings do not have parking lots.
Advocate Ghanshyam Gupta said that traders and visitors to the market can use the multilevel parking at Premsukh Talkies. He said that the market is sizable and therefore building a parking lot in the area is not such a bad idea and the vacant liquor warehouse could be used for the purpose. Gupta concluded by saying that traffic police should take action against violators of traffic rules particularly against those who park haphazardly.
“Parking is a huge problem in Siyaganj, particularly on the stretch leading from Siyaganj to Warehouse Road, because of haphazard parking the vacant liquor warehouse land could be used to build a parking lot.”

way as to not cause problems to other drivers.”

l Shrichand Balwani,
