Six held while planning robbery

Indore : City crime branch sleuths on Friday night arrested six persons, including an absconding killer of a vegetable vendor, while they were planning a major robbery.

ASP (crime) Amarendra Singh said that a tip-off was received that notorious criminal Monu alias Maya Singare, who killed a vegetable vendor near Bengali Square about four years ago, is planning strike a house in Paliwal Nagar. After receiving information, the team raided the place and arrested six youths with arms.

Accused were identified as Abhishek alias Monu alias Maya Singare of Vinoba Nagar, Avinash alias Takku Karosiya, Rahul alias Rinku Mehra of Pancham Ki Phel, Karan alias Kali Solanki of Pipliyahana, Anurag Ahirwar of Patnipura and Adarsh Kushwah of Pancham Ki Phel area of the city. Five knifes, a sword and chilli powder were also recovered from their possession.

Vegetable vendor murder accused among arrested

Accused Monu confessed to the murder of vegetable vendor Rampal in December 2013 on a petty issue. Accused Vijay, Shubham and Rais were arrested earlier while Monu was on the run. On the same night, the accused had injured a fruit vendor near Agriculture College.

In April 2015, Monu along with Vijay robbed a man of his wallet in Mitrabandhu Nagar and they had also injured a person who came to intervene. The accused later snatched his motorcycle and brunt it in MIG area. They had robbed a purse from a woman near Hotel Shrimaya on same night. Some mobile snatching incidents were also committed by the accused. Police have recovered mobile phones and a bike from the accused.

Monu revealed that he was impressed watching movie ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ in which Vivek Oberoi played the role of criminal Maya. After which he tattooed name Maya on his arm and committed the crimes

Accused Anurag told the police that he is employed as a delivery boy with an online marketing channel and accused Monu is his school friend while accused Adarsh is a photographer and he started criminal activities by the influence of Monu.

Accused Takku told police that he was earlier arrested by Tukoganj police in connection with a loot incident. The accused used to hide number plate of their vehicle using mud before committing crime.
