Ujjain : CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan in his jam pack schedule did not give time to agitating saints of Vaishnav Akharas here on Wednesday. Saints of the Vaishnav Akharas wanted to talk with the CM regarding their problems, but CM did not pay heed on the prevailing problems and remained busy in the inaugural spree of completed Simhastha developmental works.
Amid dramatic movements, agitating saints Shivshankar Das and Maesh Das reached at the Circuit House to meet the CM, but what transpired between them could not known. Earlier in the day, Collector Kavindra Kiyawat, Mela Officer Avinash Lavaniya and SP Manohar Verma reached at Digambar Akhara to convince the agitating saints, but failed in their attempt. Mahamantri of Digambar Akhara, Vaishnav Das informed Free Press, administration gave us assurance that our problem will be redressed after March 7, but we made it clear to both the officers that our Dharna will end only when our problem get solved. He also informed that the CM has directed to depute Additional Mela Officer Manish Singh (IAS officer and Indore Municipal Corporation Commissioner) to deal with the issue.
Saint also complained about the rough behaviour of the collector Kiyawat and said if administration cannot make our arrangements then they should give us in writing and we will leave the Mela to our respective places. The agitated saints and Kiyawat also indulged in verbal duel. They demanded the CM to remove the Collector. Saints of all the three Vaishnav Akharas viz Nirmohi, Nirvani and Digambar are protesting against the faulty land allotment and unavailability of basic facilities at their camping grounds and sitting on ‘Dharna’ from last three days outside the Digambar Akhara. Three saints Suryakant Das, Khadeshwari Krishnagopal Das, Khadeshwari Gopal Das are on indefinite hunger strike among the protesting saints.
