Shiv Sena undecided on supporting no-confidence motion moved by TDP against Narendra Modi government

Mumbai: Telugu Desam Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to all non-BJP parties to support the no-confidence motion moved against the Narendra Modi government, but the Shiv Sena is not inclined to play along. Despite its shrill criticism of the Modi government through party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ and in public, the Shiv Sena will stop short of jumping onto the Opposition bandwagon.

However, Sena is likely to keep the BJP guessing. According to Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena’s Member of Rajya Sabha, his party was ‘undecided’ on supporting the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP. Raut said, “A decision will be taken at an opportune time. However, we will not go along with the TDP agenda. We will do what is in the interest of the country. We will fight our own battle,” said Raut.  However, an MP from TDP, Dr Ravindra Babu Pandula, said his party was hopeful of receiving support not just from Sena but from other BJP MPs as well.  Of late, the Sena relations with the BJP have touched a new low, but the former has still refrained from rocking the NDA boat at the Centre. This is a part of well-calibrated Sena strategy to keep the State incumbency muck from falling at its doorstep and, at the same time, using its membership of the NDA as a leverage.
