Mumbai : A fitness app ‘Shishu Poshan’ has been introduced in the android application market. This app will act as guidance for working and other women on breastfeeding and baby nutrition. It also claims to answer and address issues surrounding breastfeeding.

This app is already making the rounds on the Android play store with over 10,000 downloads. ‘Shishu Poshan’ will be promoted on August 2 which is also the World Breastfeeding week. Also, this app will be featured on several other platforms in order to inform more people about sensitive issues of breastfeeding.

According to a member of the breastfeeding committee, this app will focus more on working and other women, since a lot of them are unaware about a lot of information on breastfeeding.

Apart from guiding good practices to nurture infants, the fitness app also directs pregnant women to follow methods in order to accomplish healthy nutrition. Questions like- How to breastfeed a baby? What care should be taken while breastfeeding a baby? Which things are important for breastfeeding? How and what makes use of breastfeeding for children’s health? How to keep breastfeeding working women? , will be explained in this app.

Organizations like Mumbai Breastfeeding Promotion Committee (MBPC), Breastfeeding Promotion Network Of India (BPNI)- Maharashtra, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)- Maharashtra, Department of Community Medicine – Seth G.S. Medical College & KEM Hospital (Mumbai) and TATA Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) have collaborated for developing this app.

This app will be freely available on the Android play store for download by the name of ‘ShishuPoshan’ and will be available in all the three languages- English, Hindi and Marathi.
