Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees trailer is reminiscences of 70s, 80s era

Directed by Rahul Dholakia and co-produced by Excel Entertainment and Red Chillies, the film is based on Gujarat’s dreaded smuggler, Abdul Latif and highlights his life from the 1970s to 1980s.

A day earlier, SRK released a brand new poster of the film which is instantly reminds us of 1970s Bollywood.

Miyan Bhai, as Shah Rukh Khan would like to call himsel in ‘Raees’ is a bootlegger and man, anyone who walks past this anti-hero, trembles with fear. He is both the calm before the storm and the storm itself.

The trailer shows Raees’s and Nawazuddin’s characters are at loggerheads-one refuses to slow down and other refuses to give up. If Raees is an ambitious immoral businessman, Nawaz is a stubborn police officer. “Aap mujhe kahin bhi transfer kar dijiye, Raees ko nahin chhodunga, warns Siddiqui (transfer me anywhere, I won’t leave Raees). His and Shah Rukh’s chemistry is one just another level. They complement each other.
Watch the trailer here:

Bhai (Shah Rukh) has a softer side to his intimidating personality which comes out when his lady love (Mahira Khan) makes an entry in his life. He is swooned over by her.

Shah Rukh Khan’s performance as the bad guy is commendable. The gangster, the bootlegger, the swagger-each part portrayed with sheer cinematic brilliance. There is kicking and punching and full on villain dismemberment in Raees. The “Baniye ka dimaag aur Miyanbhai ki daring” dialogue has already left us impressed.

He was not wrong when he captioned his poster ‘apna time shuru’. Only a superstar like Shah Rukh Khan’s stature could have pulled off something as bad as this one.

The film was recently in news for its leading lady, Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who is making her Bollywood debut. There were rumours that the film would not get a release owing to the recent ban on Pakistani artists working in India.

Raees stars Shah Rukh Khan, Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film was supposedly release on 26 January clashing with Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’. Earlier ‘Kaabil’ producers changed its release date and now ‘Raees’ release date has also changed. The film is scheduled to release on 25 January.
