Shabbir Crowned Veteran’s Winner

Mumbai : Unseeded Shabbir Khan of Thane overcame Prakash Chavan of Mumbai in a two game encounter 25-8, 25-15 to claim men veteran single’s title in the 14th Muktar Ahmed Trophy Carrom tournament.

In  the Veteran singles final Shabbir Khan of Thane outclassed Prakash Chavan of Mumbai by displaying attacking game mixed with defence to win first game 25-8 in six boards. In the second game Shabbir Khan playing defencively won in seventh boards 25-15 to claim veteran singles title for first time.

In the Men singles Third round former World & National champion Yogesh Pardesi of Pune dropped second game before winning against Abhishek Bharti of Mumbai 25-4, 18-25, 25-8 in a thrilling three game encounter to advance further. Mahesh Kuperkar of RBI blanked Yashwant Kambli of Mumbai 25-0, 25-5 in straight games to enter fourth round. Abhishek Chavan of Ratnagiri stunned former state champion Mahendra Tambe of Bank of Maharashtra 25-1, 25-6 in  straight games. Second seeded State & ICF Cup Champion Riyaz Akbar Ali of Mumbai  blanked Jaysingh Charaniya of Mumbai in straight games encounter 25-0, 25-8 to advance further. Abhay Mayekar of Bank Of Maharashtra overcame Bipin Pande of Palghar in straight games 25-6, 25-10 to move further.  In this Tournament so for 2 Black to Finishes have been scored.
