Ujjain :  As the dates to commence the grand congregation of Simhastha Mahakumbh nears, the ground reality of Mela premises comes to fore. Simhastha Fair Administration (SFA) has failed to manage appropriate sanitary services to the lakhs of saints camping at the fair area. Saints have alleged the administration to practise step motherly attitude with the saints and are indulged to please the saints and mehants of 13 Akharas.

Saints flay step-motherly attitude of Simhastha Fair Administration officials

When the master plan of Simhastha Mahakumbh was designed, the top officials had kept the issue of open defecation on the priority. They also planned to develop thousands of toilets across the Mela premises to deal with it. Though, the concerned agencies have built thousands of toilets at different sectors and zones, but they are of no use. Saints are repeatedly complaining to the concerned officials about such problems. Acharya Jayram Maharaj of Laltamba camp of Bhukhi Mata sector narrating his plight to the Free Press told that their camp has been spread over 1 lakh square feet area, but it lacks the basic amenities like toilets and water supply. Saints are in trouble due to the problems and are unable to use the 100 toilets built at the camp. Acharya Jayram told that he had been tired complaining to the concerned officials. It seemed as if the Ministers and officials were only caring the saints of 13 Akharas.

  • All facilities pouring for 13 Akharas
  • People defecating in open

Convener of Jayram Ashram Chirtrakoot, Bengali Baba seems very angry over the mismanagement prevailed at the Mela premises. He complained of low pressure supply of water at his camp and the tap has been leaking for many days. He also added that ghats were dazzling with the lights, but the camps do not have such facilities. Many a times he saw snakes surfing the camp area. Bhagwat Shukla of Jayram Ashram Haridwar told that they were unable to rest in the day due to the blistering sun and mosquitoes serve them in the night.

Manager of Lalitamba Shakti Peeth RS Pathak told, ‘hundreds of people defecate in open on the roadside every morning. It shows that the officials are expert in managing things on the paper and the ground reality tells us a entirely different tale.’ He told that they would burn an effigy of the Chief Minister if the irregularities were not fixed soon.
