Indore : The Regional Transport Office on Tuesday started providing fitness certificates to heavy vehicles through tablets at Transport Nagar and issued certificates of more than 51 vehicles on the first day.
The mobile fitness centre of RTO has started after a long wait which gave relief to the residents of Kesarbagh Road, who were facing trouble due to the long queue of heavy vehicles at the RTO office.
“We have started providing fitness certificates to heavy vehicles through tablets from Tuesday. Indore has become the first district to do so and the new centre for fitness certificates will be started at Vijay Nagar Square soon,” RTO, MP Singh said.
He said that now only passenger vehicles will get fitness certificates at Kesarbagh office as the fitness check of heavy vehicles will be done at Transport Nagar only.
“Through a tablet, the picture of a vehicle will be directly uploaded to the server and certificate will be issued by the designated officer. It is expected that more than 200 certificates will be issued from Wednesday onwards,” Singh added.
It is to be noted that the move to start giving certificates through a tablet was postponed due to the problem of the battery in the device. Problem in the software was also witnessed which was solved by the Smart Chip officials.
Checking against vehicle dealers soon
RTO, MP Singh said that they will start a checking drive against vehicle dealers soon, especially the dealers of second hand vehicles.
“We have directed the dealers to collect the identity cards of the vehicle buyers and sellers during a meeting chaired by IGP, Vipin Maheshwari. Now, we will start a checking drive against them and will act if they do not follow the orders,” Singh added.
