MUMBAI: The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), an organisation affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has organised an iftar party in Mumbai on June 4 to woo Muslim voters ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.
MRM was founded in 2003 on the initiative of the then RSS chief, K Sudarshan, to enable the Sangh Parivar to reach out to Muslims. On Wednesday, MRM national convenor Latif Mukadam said, “The party will be held at Sahyadri state guest house at Malabar Hill and dignitaries, along with industrialists and businessmen from the Muslim community will be invited. More than 300 invitees will attend the iftar party.”
“Many political parties used the Muslim community for the benefit of parties but kept away from mainstream development. Now, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the RSS are trying to bring them into the mainstream and Muslims too have accepted the BJP’s ideology,” claimed Irfan Pirjade, an office-bearer of the MRM.
