Indore : City witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall on Sunday. At least 28.9 mm rainfall was recorded till 8:30 pm and with this the total rainfall recorded in the city so far reached 618.9 mm, which is over 24-inch mark. Several areas were waterlogged due to rains that intensified in the afternoon.

Officials of meteorological department said that the city’s rainfall figure has crossed the average rainfall figure but it is 400 mm less than the record of last year. “Rainfall will continue to take place for couple of days more and there is an alert for heavy rains at city’s outskirts,” weatherman said. He added that the rainfall recorded this year will touch the satisfactory mark by the end of the season. On Sunday, sky turned black at 4.30 pm and commuters on roads had to switch on headlights of their vehicles. People claimed that continuous rainfall is the result of inception of Shravan month.

Steep rise in lakes level

The steady rainfall since last three days has brought good news for Indoreans as water level of major lakes of the city has increased. Some of the lakes have been filled up to their maximum capacity.
