Pune: Man lends mobile to woman on pretext of helping, molests her when she returns it

In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old man was arrested by the police for molesting a 21-year-old woman. The accused had lent his mobile phone to a woman on the pretext of helping her and then molested her.

According to Mid-Day, the accused has been identified as Ram Badarilal Dabodiya. The incident took place on Wednesday, when the victim, an engineering student, had planned to meet a friend at Koregaon Park. On the way, she realised that her mobile phone needed to be charged and came to Camp near Aurora Tower at M G Road. The woman wanted to call the friend she was meeting and that is when she approached the accused and spoke on his mobile phone.

Later when she returned the phone to the man he kissed her and tried to hug her, he didn’t stop there he again tried to kiss the woman. The accused also touched her inappropriately and molested her. The woman was in a state of shock, but before she could do anything the accused fled from the spot. After which, the woman approached the police and filed a complaint. Acting on the complaint the cops started looking out for the man. Based on the man’s number and the CCTV footage, cops tracked him to his house. The CCTV has footage of the molestation too. The accused works in the private sector and has two daughters.

The woman lodged a complaint with Cantonment police against the unknown person on Wednesday, and on Thursday the police arrested him. The cops arrested the accused under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.
