Probe ‘mafia raj’ charges, Mayor asks Ajoy Mehta

Mumbai: Mayor Snehal Ambekar on Thursday wrote a letter to the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) Commissioner Ajoy Mehta asking him to investigate the allegations levelled by BJP MP Kirit Somaiya on ‘Mafia-raj’ in the civic body.

The atmosphere has been heated up between the ruling parties as serious allegations are levelled almost every day. Recently, Somaiya had alleged that Shiv Sena was responsible for the ‘mafia raj’ in the MCGM.

Ambekar in her letter has asked the civic chief to investigate the BJP MP’s allegations and submit a report at the earliest.

A few days ago, Somaiya had said, “We will end the mafia raj of a family in the MCGM.”

Somaiya has been targeting Sena and had burnt an effigy of ‘Ravaan’ on Dussera in Mulund which resulted into a bitter fight as Sena party workers had allegedly attacked him there.
