Priyanka Chopra’s Baywatch gets five cuts by CBFC, but bikinis survive

Desi Girl Priyanka Chopra’s Hollywood debut film ‘Baywatch’ gets clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an ‘A’ rating on Friday. Baywatch, being the adult comedy that it is, has suffered at the hands of CBFC. The film in The United States has been received ‘R’ ratings.

According to reports, the film has received five cuts, one visual and four verbal, for its adult content. The good thing is that the film was cleared and the innumerable bikini shots have survived. The series, made famous across TV screens in the ‘90’s for its shots of women running on beaches in slow-motion, will retain similar images in the film.

Speaking to a leading tabloid, CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani says: “There was no rationale to cut the bikini images. For one, the series ran on satellite television in India for years and contained lengthy shots of women in bikinis. Secondly, Indian filmmakers really need to stop making such a big issue about bikinis. Go to Goa or Mauritius. The beaches are carpeted with women in bikinis. What is the big deal about such shots?”

‘Baywatch’ is all set to release in India on 2 June and fans are already pretty excited for the film. The film is directed by Seth Gordon and also stars Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera and Jon Bass, with cameos by original TV show actors Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff. PeeCee is playing a negative character in the film. Her fans recently went crazy over her bikini pictures. Priyanka was looking incredibly hot in a bikini when she promoted the film in Miami.
