Post Dhoni, my popularity has increased a lot: ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ actor Herry Tangri

Do you remember the guy who played Yuvraj Singh in MS Dhoni? Herry Tangri not only performed the role to perfection, but his amazingly similar look to Yuvraj stunned many. Now, he is ready to give his best in the upcoming movie ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ as Bhura. He speaks to Mamta Sonar regarding his upcoming film, his role, love, life in general and his co-stars.

Q. Tell us something about your role in the film

A. My character’s name is Bhura because he has brown hair in the movie ‘Behen Hogi Teri’. For the very first time, I coloured my hair for a film. He is a Haryaanvi boy living in Lucknow and is innocent and lovable.

Q. How did you get this role?

A. The producers approached me and after reading the script I jumped on for the role because it was very refreshing, important and relevant for me.

Q. As per the film title ‘Behen Hogi Teri’. “All Indians are brother and sister” and in the end, it ends with ‘Are Not’. What do you think about it?

A. I think all Indians are connected with the love of country and culture and sports etc…. Relationships like behen and bhai are too personal and sensitive.

Q. How was your experience working with Shruti Hassan and bad man Gulshan Grover.

A. Working with Shruti: Very enjoyable, fun and professional at the same time. She is an extremely impressive artist.

Working with Gulshanji: Learning and great experience… he is bad man on screen but can be really sweet on the sets. As we both are Punjabis, we had fun filled light discussions in Punjabi too during shooting.

Q. How much has life has change after MS Dhoni?

A. Post Dhoni, my popularity has increased a lot and people get excited to see me in social places. Huge population is waiting to see me as Yuvraj in Yuvraj’s Biopic. Fingers crossed.

Q. Do directors work in a similar manner?

A. No. directors have unique signature styles. I have worked with new directors and top established directors also. Directors like Neeraj Pandey and Dibakar Banerjee are very pro-active, smart and approachable. Others like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra have super intelligence with unique aura and personality that can intimidate you. Ajay K Pannalal of ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ is so nice, friendly and easy going. I am so lucky to work with all these talented directors.

Q. Tell us something about yourself. Family or girlfriends?

A. I am very grounded and sweet person, who loves all creative things including painting and cooking too. My short temper is sometimes dangerous for me. No girlfriend right now but have had some sweet relationships in past. My parents live in Goa and my only elder brother is an MBA. He works with an MNC in Gurgaon.

Q. Any memorable stories from the sets?

A. The home made sweet and salted Lassi which Ranjeet ji (my tauji in film) used to get on sets, we all use to love it and enjoy it. Gulshan ji`s angry and bad man avatar on sets was also very memorable. He used to take time to switch off and those very few minutes were very interesting and awesome.
