Per day appointment quota for passports rise to 290

Indore: There is good news for early passport seekers who have to wait for almost one month to get appointments at passport office. Owing to persistent rise in waiting list, the daily passport appointments have been increased. Rashmi Baghel, regional passport officer, Bhopal, said owing to rise in waiting list of passport seekers of the city, the per day appointment quota for normal category has been increased from 260 to 290.

The quota of Tatkal and Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is 30 as usual. Altogether, the daily quota of the city has gone to 320 now. Ever since Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) was opened, the numbers of passport applicants were on rise. The waiting period for getting the appointment has been more than one month despite opening of Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in neighbouring districts. She said passport melas will be organised on December 8, 15 and 22. Appointments for these dates will be available from 11 am on December 7, 14 and 21 respectively.

The applicants who intend to apply for passport under normal category can apply on these dates. The applicants will have to visit PSK at scheduled time along with print out of Appointment and Registration Number (ARN) cum appointment sheet after registering on the website www.passportindia. The applicants will have to bring original documents and one set of photocopy. Applications for tatkal, PCC, walk in category will not be entertained at the Mela.
