‘Partition 1947’ trailer launch: Huma lauds Gurinder for making film on sensitive subject

Mumbai: Reliance Entertainment presented a Hindi version of the trailer of ‘Partition 1947’, which marks Huma Qureshi’s Hollywood debut.

The trailer, within days, got more than three lakh view on YouTube. The trailer shows the British accountability for the humanitarian disaster triggered by the partition of the subcontinent in 1947.

The film also features the late Om Puri. On him, Huma said, “He was great human being apart from being a fine actor.” During the trailer launch of ‘Partition: 1947’, Huma was asked about her experience with the late actor, to which she said, “I think my best scenes in the film are with Om Puri. He played my father in the film and I would like to thank Gurinder for giving me such a lovely on-screen father. From the first meeting, he was such a wonderful person to be with.”

Huma added she is thankful to director Gurinder Chadha for making a film on such a sensitive subject. Adding to that, Gurinder said, “We screened the film in Australia and people loved it there because it is an emotional story.”

The film stars Huma Qureshi, Om Puri, Manish Dayal, Hige Bonneville, Gillian Anderson and Michael Gambon. The music of the film has been composed by AR Rahman. The film is slated to release on August 18, 2017.
