An online White House petition seeking to designate Pakistan a state sponsor of terrorism has gained a record half a million sigantures, thus qualifiying to get response from the Obama administration.
The petition was created on September 21 by Indian-American and has become third most popular petition on the White House website with nearly 110,000 people signing the petition. The Obama administration is expected to response to it within 60 days.
The petition states that declaring Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism is “important to the people of United States of America, India and many other countries which are continuously affected by Pakistan-sponsored terrorism”.
The petition on White House webite will be live until October 21 and if the petition comes through, it is likely that Pakistan will be declared a terrorist country, standing the risk of isolation from the international community.
