A top executive working with a multinational company committed suicide this week after being accused of sexual harassment by two employees at this firm.
According to India TV, the deceased was identified as Swaroop Raj. He was the vice-president of Genpact, a US-based professional services firm that has offices in Delhi-NCR. Swaroop committed suicide at his Noida residence early Tuesday morning. Swaroop had been suspended from his company over the allegations till the case was being probed.
While investigating the matter Noida police recovered a suicide note written by Swaroop, in which he denied the allegations and said that even he was proven innocent, his reputation had been tarnished for life and he wouldn’t be able to return to the office. He also wrote that he loved his wife dearly and that she should be strong and live with respect.
Swaroop was living with his wife Kirti in Noida. The suicide came to light when Kirti found Swaroop’s body hanging from a ceiling fan after she returned home that night, after which she immediately informed the police, who later took his body for post-mortem. Swaroop (hailed from Kerala) and Kriti married two years ago. Kriti worked in the same company.
