Patna: Even as the BJP kept up the pressure on Nitish Kumar to dump Lalu Prasad’s son Tejeshwai Prasad Yadav, the Bihar Chief Minister kept mum on the unfolding crisis in Patna. No JD(U) leader was willing to comment of the CBI raids on Lalu and his family members.
The Nitish Kumar government that is in alliance with Lalu Prasad’s RJD will ride out the political storm, said a JD(U) minister who refused to be identified. Awadesh Narain Singh, animal husbandry minister from the Congress, a party that is also in alliance with the ruling JD(U), said there was no need to seek Tejeshwai’s resignation as nothing has been proved against the deputy chief minister. The CBI will take at least 90 days to file a charge-sheet against him.
Nitish summoned his trusted bureaucrat-turned-politician R.C.P. Sinha to Rajgir, where the CM is holidaying, and discussed the latest developments in Patna. Nitish is understood to have decided to talk to RJD chief Lalu Prasad on his return from Ranchi before coming to any decision on his son.
