Ujjain : The district may have to wait for its new collector till August 15, as the much-hyped bureaucratic reshuffle deferred again in view of other necessary engagements of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Chief Secretary Anthony De Sa.
The bureaucratic reshuffle is on cards for a long time and has been deferred thrice so far. According to sources in the general administration department, CM and CS were supposed to give final touches to the transfer and posting lists on August 2 and 3, but it was deferred again as both of them flew to New Delhi for some urgent works. CM will be on the tour of Shahdol for next four days and he will return back to Bhopal on August 6. But, till then, the State government’s focus will be shifted on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Alirajpur, slated for August 9. By August 10, the local administration will be engaged in the preparations of Independence Day and, hence, the transfer list is most likely to be released after August 15, sources told Free Press.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the government has taken it as an exception that Ujjain’s collector Kavindra Kiyawat one-sidedly handed over his charge to zila panchayat CEO Ruchika Chauhan (IAS officer) on July 29 and went on induction training at Mussoori till September 10. Kiyawat did it despite a fact that municipal-commissioner-cum-Simhastha fair officer Avinash Lavaniya (IAS officer) is senior to her. It created an embarrassing situation in the government and administration, both and, hence, it prompted the concerned authorities to issue an order thereby making Lavaniya as in-charge collector till next arrangements. Since only single order of in-charge collector for Ujjain was issued on July 30, speculations were that Lavaniya may continue as collector for some time; but, now indications are that he may be tipped for another district.
