Kalamboli police arrested a 28-year-old teacher for making a Class I student undress in class as punishment for whistling in the classroom. The 28-year-old teacher of St. Joseph High School, Kalamboli, was arrested by the police on Wednesday after the boy’s parents registered a complaint.
According to the Hindu, the incident came to Tuesday, when the 6-year-old boy’s mother, who teaches in different schools, went to pick him up at school. The boy told her about the incident at home. A relative said the boy hadn’t told his parents about it as he was scared he would be scolded. But after the boy told his parents about the incident they approached Kalamboli police station to file a case.
An FIR was registered on Monday and the teacher was arrested on Wednesday morning. DCP (Zone II) Rajendra Mane told the leading daily, “According to the complainant, the teacher asked the boy to take his trousers off in front of the entire class as punishment on Saturday.” The who is a resident of Kamothe was charged under sections Section 75 of The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. She was produced in a court in Panvel on Wednesday, which remanded her to judicial custody.
