Mumbai: ‘What steps taken to ban Sanatan Sanstha’

Mumbai: On Wednesday, the Bombay High Court directed both the Maharashtra as well as the Union government to place on record the steps they have taken to ban Hindu rightwing outfit Sanatan Sanstha. The direction came from a division bench presided over by Justice Naresh Patil and Justice Prakash Naik, while hearing a public interest litigation seeking ban on the Sanatan Sanstha organisation. This PIL filed in 2011, by one Vijay Rokade has sought ban on the organisation owing to the allegations of blasts in Panvel and Thane. During the hearing, the bench sought from the State the progress in this matter, to which the counsel appearing for the government told the bench that the State’s Home department had in 2012 forwarded a proposal to the Union government for putting a ban on Sanatan Sanstha.
