Mumbai: Two arrested for abducting woman, her mother

Mumbai: Two men were arrested by the Rashtriya Chemical Fertilisers (RCF) Police for abducting a 28-year-old woman and her mother from her residence at Mahul, Chembur on Sunday. The woman was abducted by the accused, Milesh Shankar Khedekar (31) and his friend Ganesh Krishna Kurudkar (30). Khedekar wanted to marry the woman but she did not show any interest in him.

When Khedekar learnt she was getting married to another man, he was enraged. The duo went to the woman’s house, kidnapped the woman and her mother in a car. When they reached Janta Market near Chembur railway station, the girl’s mother rolled out of the slow-moving car, as the car was approaching a signal.

Later, when the car reached Bhandup, the girl began to scream for help and banged on the windows of the car to attract attention. A few passers-by, who saw her, opened the car door while the vehicle was still in motion and rescued her. She, then, registered a zero FIR with the Bhandup Police. The matter was transferred to the RCF Police.

Shweta Patil, police sub-inspector, RCF Police, said, “The two accused were arrested on Monday. The accused had approached the lady two-three times, asking her to marry him. However, she had refused. To take revenge, the accused kidnapped the woman and her mother.”
