Mumbai: Splitsvilla contestant Hritu Zarbade’s social media accounts hacked

Mumbai: A reality show contestant has filed a police complaint against unknown persons at Oshiwara police station after her social media account was hacked. The accused has not been arrested so far. The 23-year-old television celebrity, Hritu Zarbade (23), who is contestant of reality show ‘Splitsvilla’ and works for MTV, has alleged that her Instagram account, which has around 41,000 followers was hacked a few days ago.

She has also filed a complaint at Cyber Cell in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The hacker has leaked her number and e-mail. Since then she has been receiving calls from various numbers as well as unsolicited e-mails from the hacker.

“Through my e-mail address linked to this Instagram account, clients used to approach me with offers for doing commercials. I have done quite a few such commercials. Then on August 28, I got an email around 6pm from someone called ‘Instagramhacker2’. He told me that he was verifying all Instagram accounts and I should submit personal information. As his e-mail carried an Instagram logo, I believed him and sent my details. The new username flashing on my account was that of ‘Green Squad Hackers’. I received around 40 to 50 emails from ‘Instagramhacker’ with each email containing the same three words, “how are you?” From September 11, I started receiving phone calls from unknown people. I went back to check my Instagram account and found my email address and cellphone number displayed on the page,” wrote the TV celebrity in her complaint.

“Everyday, I get e-mail from Facebook and Instagram that someone tried to hack my account. I get about 500 calls and number of e-mails, some threatening to spoil my carrier,” reads the complaint letter. “Based on her statement, we took her complaint on Wednesday and further investigation into the matter was underway,” the police  has said.
