After Gateway of India and Bandra, soon Mumbaikars can enjoyhaving food in mid-water at the Borivali creek in Gorai.
According to DNA, the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) iscurrently looking for a private operator to start a floating restaurant at theBorivali creek in Gorai. “We are looking for private operators who can come upwith floatels at the Borivali creek, Thane creek, and also at Belapur in NaviMumbai. Also, earlier we had three floatels at the Bandra jetty but now, thereare only two. We are planning a third floating restaurant at Bandra. All ofthis is directed at better coastal tourism in the state. We are open to variouskinds of revenue sharing models from private operators for starting a floatelat the Borivali creek,” Chief Executive Officer of the MMB Vikram Kumartold the leading daily.
Currently, there are three operational floating restaurantsone is near Bandra-Worli Sea Link at Bandra jetty, and two more close to theGateway of India. The Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) had taken up this projects.
