Mumbai: Traffic restrictions were imposed in south Mumbai’s Byculla area on Tuesday on account of commemoration of Arbayeen of Shia Muslims. The south-bound route of JJ flyover was shut for vehicular movement on occasion of the Shia procession on Tuesday evening. The traffic was diverted from Clare Road to Khada Parsi junction at Agripada. The traffic saw a delay of over 25 minutes as the roads were diverted and many vehicles had to take a reroute while going back home.
However, traffic police personnel were deployed along the road from Byculla to Agripada. North-bound traffic was diverted to P D’Mello Road via Carnac Bridge, while vehicles heading towards Sir JJ Junction was diverted to Maulana Azad Road and Duncan Road. Motorists heading towards South Mumbai from Lalbaug flyover were asked to take a right turn at Khada Parsi junction, and drive through Claire Road, Pydhonie and Kalbadevi towards their destination.
