Mumbai: Mumbai police is yet to send notice to actor Irrfan Khan and comedian Kapil Sharma to record their statement on the destruction of mangroves at their Andheri residence, as no panchnama has been done yet.

The panchnama will be done in the presence of forest officials and then the notice will be served to the people including Khan and Sharma and their neighbours will be served.

It was found during a survey, conducted by forest department that Kapil Sharma and his neighbours have encroached upon the mangroves in their backyard.

They have filled up the protected wetland by 10 metres using debris and the ground has been levelled up. As per the high court order there should no construction between the 50 metres of the mangroves. On September 12 by Assistant Conservator of Forest (Mangroves Protection Cell) Makrand Ghodke, who visited Sharma’s bungalow with his team to conduct the survey.

The forest department submitted the report to the Collector on Saturday morning, after which an FIR has already been registered against comedian Kapil Sharma at Versova police station on Saturday late night for violating Environment Protection Act.
