Mumbai: Peddler held with MD drug worth Rs. 1.32 Lakh in Jogeshwari

Mumbai: Crime Branch unit 10 team nabbed notorious drug peddler, Zakir Sharifullah Sayyed, 30, in possession of 66 grams Mephedrone drug worth Rs. 1.32 lakh. The accused, Sayyed, has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to police sources, the crime branch officials received a tip-off that a notorious drug peddler was about to come for a drug deal. Acting on the tipoff, a police team, led by inspector Pokharkar, laid a trap near Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari (East). Around 9.30pm, Sayyed walked in at the spot with a sling bag. When the police intercepted Sayyed, he complied and let the police check his belongings. During the checking and frisking, police officials found 66 grams of Mephedrone, also known as MD contraband drug, worth `1.32 lakh.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Shaikh had previous cases of drugs possession registered against him at various police stations across the city. The accused Shaikh has been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. A case was registered at Jogeshwari police station, who will take over the investigation.
