Mumbai: Mumbaikars will now be able to track online their complaint letter submitted to Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) through a new tracking system. This system has been initiated by SRA to ease the process and save time of the citizens. The letter tracking system has been formed to view the status of the letter submitted by developers or slum dwellers to the SRA authorities. The status can be viewed on the official website of SRA at sra.gov.in

“The citizens will receive a Unique Identification Number which needs to be fed online under the letter tracking system. We started this system in November 2017 and received good feedback from the people,” said an SRA official. This system aims at transparency within each department of the rehabilitation authority. This feature would help the citizens to track their letter and check if it has reached the competent authority.

“The Public Relations Office would provide the complainant with the unique identification number through a text message on his mobile phone. This number can be fed in order to track the letter and know its status,” added the official. Earlier, the process was done manually where each department used to share a number with the complainant. “We have centralized our the process in terms of tracking the complaint letter number. The complainant can avoid visiting the SRA office multiple times in order to know the status of the letter. In this way, we are slowly moving into digitization,” added the official.

The SRA is also working on several web portals including preparing a system to track the projects online and to know its status. “We would soon begin with filing Right to Information (RTI) applications online which would ease the work of the citizens who are willing to file an RTI,” added the official.
