Mumbai: Navy assists in rescue operations of Marine Drive’s capsized boat

Mumbai: On Wednesday, Oct 24 around 4.15 pm, a distress call was received from the State Administration about a boat being capsized near the proposed location of Shivaji Smarak (2.6 km West of Nariman Point). The boat was carrying senior officials of the state government.. One Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) was immediately deployed and Naval Chetak and Seaking helicopters were launched for the rescue.As the capsized boat was sighted South of Prongs, the survivors were picked up by other boats in the area. The CH lowered a diver in to the rescue boat and rescued two persons. Two Marine Police boats towed the capsized boats to the shore. Naval divers subsequently recovered the body of the missing person from under the capsized boat.
