Mumbai: Mobile store burgled in Mira Road, thieves decamp with 24 handsets

Bhayandar: Unidentified miscreants broke into a mobile phone showroom in Mira Road during the wee hours of Sunday and made off with handsets worth Rs 1.58 lakh. The break-in was reported from Jai Ambe Telecom — a multi-brand mobile outlet located in the Shanti Park area of Mira Road.

The thieves gained access into the showroom by breaking open the shutters and decamped with 24 high end handsets worth more than Rs 1.58 lakh. The theft came to light when the staffers of the showroom arrived early on Sunday morning. The theft was committed between 11 pm to 7:15 am, police said. A complaint has been registered by shop owner  Rahul Gupta with the Mira Road police who are trying to procure Close Circuit Television (CCTV)  footage from in and around the vicinity of the crime spot. Assistant Police Inspector  Prakash Pawar is conducting further investigations into the case, which has been registered under section 380 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code.
