Mumbai : Disgruntled with a lot of criticism from her own party councillors, the Mayor Snehal Ambekar is now said to switch to the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for the civic polls. Ambekar from Shiv Sena is facing stiff opposition from members within her own party and are said to be upset with her behaviour and attitude.

Sources have also revealed that a few days ago, the local members from her ward, including some women barged into the Mayor’s bungalow and accused her of her intolerance attitude. “The party men from the ground have clearly stated to the boss, Uddhav Thackeray that they do not want Ambekar to be given any opportunity to contest in these elections.”

In addition to the party workers opposing Ambekar, officers from her own office have also witnessed her unfriendly and egoistic behaviour towards them. “As an officer from the Mayor’s office, it is our responsibility to help her take decisions which fit in the legal framework. However Ambekar is not someone who would listens to her staff and takes their advice.” said the source.

It is going to be a tough task given fact that the BJP and Sena has split and long time party workers from the BJP will now be looking forward to getting a ticket in these elections. “However nothing is confirmed now and the deal is on a shaky ground,” said the source.

Ambekar was the elected councillor from G-South’s ward number 194 which is now ward number 198 and has been reserved for Scheduled Caste.
